Superabsorbent Fibre - Absorbs up to 200 times its weight in water
77,00 kr
These fibres are made from a superabsorbent polymer. The fibre can rapidly absorb and retain surprisingly large volumes of water. The fibre can be converted to non-woven fabrics or spun into yarns for use in woven textiles. The fibre is odourless and approved for food contact.
Used for:
Superabsorbent fibre is used in non-woven fabrics for diapers, wound care dressings, and feminine hygiene products. It is used for filter media that can remove water from oil. It is also placed inside meat packaging where it absorbs exuded fluids and thus extends shelf life.
Applications for superabsorbent fibre:
Fibre-based superabsorbents will not shed particles – which can be an issue with conventional powder-based absorbents. It is possible to customise the polymer grade, fibre thickness, and fibre length to suit specific applications. The absorption capacity is up to 200 times the weight of the fibre, but it is reduced to 60 times in saline solutions.
Idea:
Use the fibre in a highly effective tissue that can soak up spilled beverages at restaurants.
Try it:
Add some fibres from the sample to a glass of water.
All samples come with a laminated information card, which includes contact details for the supplier.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
Can you help introduce me to a mill who has either knit or woven these absorbent fibers into fabrics?
You can take a look at Gelok International (www.gelok.com) and Technical Absorbents (www.techabsorbents.com). There are other manufacturers besides these two.
