Stainless Steel Fibres - Very thin fibres made entirely from stainless steel
92,00 kr
These soft hair-like fibres are drawn from different grades of stainless steels and specialty steels. The fibres are highly heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and electrically conductive. They can be blended with other fibres and spun into thread or yarn, felted, or embedded into composite materials.
Used for:
The spun yarns are used to make EMC shielding textiles and anti-static work clothing for assembly workers in the electronics industry. The fibres are also compressed and sintered to make air filters, silencers, and filtration media. Hobbyists have used felted fibres to make a squeeze sensor that becomes more conductive as it is compressed.
Details:
The thinnest fibre available has a diameter of just 1 µm and it is possible to specify the length of the individual fibres. The small diameter allows for filters with small pore sizes and high ratios of surface area to mass.
