Sheep wool is an excellent thermal and acoustic insulator. The wool used as an insulation material is low-grade virgin wool or recycled off-cuts from the textile and carpet industries. Sheep wool can absorb and release up to 35 percent of its own weight in moisture from the air, so it helps prevent condensation in the spaces where it’s used.

Used for:
Sheep wool insulation is an alternative to stone wool or glass fibre wool for insulation in roofs, walls, and floors. It is also used in shipping boxes for chilled or frozen foodstuffs and for packaging cooled pharmaceuticals.

Details:
The wool is safe to handle and non-irritating to the skin. It is inherently flame retardant and does not release toxic gases when burned. Sheep wool is naturally resistant to mould and it can also be treated with insecticides to avoid attacks from moths and other insects. It has an R-value of 0.0359 W/m·K.
